Biasanya guru baru (terutama) mengalami kesulitan bagaimana menggunakan pengantar bahasa Inggris di dalam mengajar di kelas. Mereka cenderung menggunakan bahasa Indonesia. Nah, tentu saja situasi yang demikian kuranglah efektif bagi keberhasilan kelas. Anak-anak akan lebih cepat bisa berkomunikasi dengan bahasa Inggris seandainya guru juga menggunakan pengantar bahasa Inggris di dalam mengajar. Sebab itu paket Early Bird dilengkapi dengan buku dan CD Birdie Way to Classroom English. Dengan buku ini guru akan belajar ungkapan-ungkapan yang lazin dalam komunikasi di dalam kelas. Buku ini dilengkali dengan audio CD yang membantu guru dengan memberikan contoh-contoh pengucaan oleh native speaker untuk memastikan agar pengucaannya benar.

3) Metodenya: terbuka, alami dan tanpa tekanan.

Secara garis besar tema-tema bisa dikatakan berdasar pada kata-kata yang akrab dan mudah dipahami, misalnya: “crocodile, elephant, giraffe, hippo, radio, programme, mother, father, happy birthday, butter, restaurant, shoes, pizza, football, golf, boxing, tennis, dan lain-lain”.

Banyak kata lain yang diingat oleh anak-anak ketika mereka diberi petunjuk dengan kata-kata kunci:

sweets à chewing gum, lollipop, mint, candy bar, dan lain-lain

hobby, sports à do-it-yourself, football, swimming, jogging, cycling, walking, dan lain-lain

“Pra-familiarisasi” merupakan hal yang penting menurut psikologi belajar, karena hal-hal yang telah akrab merupakan hal-hal kunci untuk sesuatu yang baru di dalam pembelajaran sebuah bahasa dan karena “word clusters” bisa dipelajari dengan mudah.

Pada “clusters” seperti itu untuk minggu-minggu pertama terdapat banyak sekali “activities”, maksudnya aktivitas-aktivitas permainan bahasa, yang bertujuan:

• Menstabilkan teknik-teknik kerja pada mata pelajaran baru
• Melatih pelafalan bahasa Inggris dan yang paling penting adalah melatih ritme bahasa, “speech groups” dan “prosody”; dan dengan demikian berarti menanamkan pengetahuan tentang bunyi yang berguna di dalam otak.
• Menyesuaikan basis artikulasi (high pitch, no glotal stop)  dengan hati-hati ke dalam bahasa baru tersebut, yang berarti tidak berbicara dengan bunyi yang terpatah-patah ketika mengucapkan kata-kata
• Melafalkan kata-kata bahasa Inggris dengan benar di dalam pengalaman hidup keseharian.

First weeks - First steps

The first weeks of English lessons is to determine and establish the assessment, attitudes and motivation of children. They are ready to use a language, if from the beginning the children are stimulated to be active. Similarly, for teachers, early steps in the process of teaching is a critical period for orientation and training in situations of "where they talk the language into the learners."This includes all the rituals and routines which the children are familiar with  from other subjects.

In addition, teacher can also mention all the words possible, like numbers, colors, animals, organs and other words which are found in stories, rhymes and songs, if the situation allows and is comfortable.

In this initial steps, the relation between the themes in "thematic webbing" with classified exercises is also important. Teachers can have the cildren to practice words like "fruit, apples, oranges, grapefruit". Fruits appear also in the context of its own theme and other topics. If you have previously discussed colors, they can be repeated again when talking about the fruits.
The purpose of the "first steps" is not just collect words, but to activate prior knowledge of children and to practice pronunciation or conduct basic "tongues training" which are fundamental through the communicative situation and in a playing atmospher.

There are various possibilities to use vocabulary in compliance with  the situation and the game. In addition, children are also expected to understand and be able to follow simple basic commands in English. If within the first weeks, there are approximately 400-600 words being acquired, then this is a good capital for the child to be able to speak by creating simple sentences using simple syntax:

The initial reaction of children to the pronunciation practice is to pronounce words together. After a while, teachers can use "lip reading", the teacher is only moving his lips to give examples of speech. If the teacher whispers a statement, then the child understand that they must say exactly what they were hearing. If the first letters of words have been written on the board or on cards, the children say the word designated by those initials.
